US STOCKS were volatile in morning trade in New York yesterday, with traders digesting comments made by Alan Greenspan, chairman of the US Fed, in his biannual Humphrey Hawkins testimony.

At lunchtime, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was treading water at 9547.08, down 5.6 points, recovering from a 79-point drop earlier in the day.

The Nasdaq Composite was up 29.02 points at 2371.03. Internet and other IT-related stocks rallied.
