LEADING SHARES ended higher in a session shortened by bad weather. The blue-chip Hang Seng index closed up 60.21 points, or 0.44 per cent, at 13,633.87.

The market was helped by another record overnight close on Wall Street, but the local market was again hit by profit-taking near the close.

While a record Dow Jones close on Monday at 11,299.76 initially helped the market, it quickly ran out of steam.
