SHARES CLOSED lower yesterday as worries over US interest rates and profit-taking among blue-chips depressed sentiment.

The FTSE 100 ended 28.8 lower at 6,552.4 in fairly high turnover. The leading index followed Wall Street for most of the session, falling sharply after the New York market opened lower and paring some of its losses when the Dow recovered. The FTSE 250 was also marked lower and finished 22.3 down at 5,925.1.
