THE MARKET closed slightly higher, boosted by moderate buying ahead of the US interest rates decision. The FTSE 100 recovered from Monday's slump to finish 40.6 up at 6,206.4. A solid opening by Wall Street just hours before the US central bank meeting helped to underpin sentiment. The second liners were less exposed to the Dow's positive influence. The FTSE 250 ended 5.5 higher at 5706.7, while the Small Cap fell 6.4 to 2556.9.
