THE DOW Jones index managed a third straight record, led by Alcoa, Caterpillar and other companies that stand to benefit most from recovery in Asian and Latin American economies. The Dow Jones rose 16.65 to 10,411.66 after touching a high of 10,512.67.
US stocks overall were mixed as retailers and drugmakers declined, while Internet shares tumbled. Intel sank after reporting weaker-than-expected sales, sending the Nasdaq down 76.02 to 2,507.48.
