US STOCKS fell, one day after the Dow Jones Industrial Average topped 11,000, as bonds became more attractive than equities to some investors. American Express, JP Morgan and Citigroup led the Dow to its worst loss in five weeks.

The Dow fell 128.58, or 1.2 per cent, to 10,886.11. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index sank 22.63, or 1.7 per cent, to 1332, led by financial shares. The Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 50.45, or 2 per cent, to 2485.13.
