FOR ONCE Wall Street lacked direction and at midday the Dow was 22 points higher at 10,911 after trading in a narrow range. The yield on the 30-year bond rose to 5.83 per cent, still some way short of the 6 per cent level which would signal danger for shares, analysts said.

Internet stocks were generally down with America Online 3/4 lower at $134 7/8, and IBM dipped 1 1/8 to $234 3/4, but among blue chips Eastman Kodak rose $1 3/8 to $75 15/16.
