STOCKS slipped yesterday as Wall Street positioned itself on the eve of the US Federal Reserve's decision on whether to ratchet up interest rates for the third time this year.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 8.57 points, or 0.08 per cent, at 10,760.75, after gaining 65 points last week. The technology- heavy Nasdaq composite index lost 1.61 points, or 0.05 per cent, to close at 3,219.54 after racking up its 10th record close in 11 sessions, on Friday.
