AM I the only one to detect a faint irony in Branston Pickle's sponsorship of a survey, published last week, which asked: 'What makes Britain great?' (Answer: mineral water and Nigel Mansell, apparently.) The aim was to associate the sticky brown gunk with things British - from black pudding to cricket. Branston is of course owned by that most British of British institutions, Nestle. Of Switzerland.
