Bunhill: The Association of Independent Electricity Producers

ANYONE know a good lawyer? The Association of Independent Electricity Producers can't find one.

It has complained loud and long that the official cap on wholesale electricity prices is arbitrary, unnecessary and distorts competition.

It was introduced to curb National Power and PowerGen, but is actually hurting other generators and putting off investment in new power plants, the AIEP says.

The association would like to take legal advice on the issue but David Porter, the AIEP's chief executive, says: 'We cannot find a heavyweight law firm to take up our case because they all want to bid to handle the Government's planned sale of the remaining chunks of National Power and PowerGen.'
