Year ended 31 December

Sema Group shares jumped 21p to 286p after the Anglo-French computer services company reported a 39 per cent leap in pre-tax profits to pounds 19.5m ( pounds 14m). Turnover rose 12.9 per cent to pounds 416.7m. The total dividend is 2.8p (2.6p).

Life Sciences International, a maker of scientific research equipment, lifted pre-tax profits from pounds 18.5m to pounds 20.6m, helped by a return on sales of 17.6 per cent before interest. Trading profits rose to pounds 19.6m ( pounds 16.4m). Final dividend is 2.35p, making 3.55p (3.35p).

Bilston and Battersea Enamels, a maker of decorative boxes, made a pounds 222,000 pre-tax loss (profit pounds 120,000).

TF & JH Braime, the seamless drawn presswork and elevator components maker, fell to pounds 583,000 ( pounds 668,000) pre-tax profit. Final dividend is 6.5p, making 8.75p (same).

MTL Instruments, a maker of explosion protection instruments and devices, made lower pre-tax profits of pounds 3.7m ( pounds 4.6m). Final dividend is 2p, making 3.6p (3.4p).

Sumit, a provider of venture capital to private firms, advanced to pounds 187,000 ( pounds 157,000) pre-tax profit. Total dividend is 1.4p (1.25p).

Six months to 31 December

Galliford, the construction company, slumped to pounds 327,000 ( pounds 2.1m) pre-tax profit. The interim dividend is cut to 0.5p (0.95p).

Intereurope Technology Services, which provides documentation, design and recruitment services, made pounds 542,000 ( pounds 614,000) pre-tax profit. Dividend is held at 2p.

Renishaw, the metrology and inspection equipment maker, fell to pounds 3.1m ( pounds 4.2m) pre-tax profit. Interim dividend is 2.5p.

Other

Lloyds Smaller Cos. Inv. Trust declared a total payout of 3.55p (year to 31 Jan). Net asset value per package unit and capital share are 99.2p and 97.5p respectively.

Ferry Pickering, the printing, packaging and publishing group, reported pre-tax profits of pounds 1.5m for the 16 months to 31 December, against pounds 2.3m for the previous 12 months to 31 August. Final dividend is 2p, making 7.5p (5.5p).
