Yesterday's Independent contained a correction relating to the Sturge Group. Regrettably certain words were omitted from the text by mistake. The correction should have read as follows:
The Business Section of The Independent on Sunday on 30th April 1995 carried a lead article under the headline: "Loan to Lloyd's Agency refused" in which it was stated that the Sturge Group had had a request for a loan turned down by its bankers. It has been pointed out to us that in fact Sturge made the request in January 1995 for bank finance on behalf of Names on Syndicate 210 to help them to meet their underwriting obligations. Sturge has not had any application for bank finance for its own use refused. We are happy to make this clarification.
