Goldman and Gates vie for Cliveden

GOLDMAN SACHS yesterday said it was in the running to bid for Cliveden, the hotels and leisure company which runs the stately home of that name. Two property companies in which Goldman is the main shareholder are set to rival a consortium led by Microsoft founder Bill Gates that last week tabled a pounds 42.8m offer for Cliveden.
