Cineworld has hailed resurgent advertising revenues and strong box-office sales from 3D movies this year, with Toy Story 3 alone bringing in £70m.
The company, which has 801 screens, said screen advertising has continued to make "encouraging progress" compared with last year. Cineworld posted advertising revenues up by 43.8 per cent for the 42 weeks to 21 October.
It said sales of cinema tickets and 3D glasses rose by 8.3 per cent thanks to strong demand for films including Shrek Forever After, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Toy Story 3, which is the biggest movie release of the year to date. Total revenues rose 8.5 per cent.
