The telecommunications company Cable & Wireless is to cut 4,000 jobs from its global division, it announced today.

The telecommunications company Cable & Wireless is to cut 4,000 jobs from its global division, it announced today.

The operation employs two-thirds of its 18,000 strong workforce in the UK, although it has bases in Europe, Japan and the US.

C&W said the cuts were a result of the reorganisation of the division, which provides services to business customers around the world.
