The recruitment group Adecco yesterday brushed off fears of a renewed global economic slowdown, saying it was confident about demand in its key markets, particularly the US.
The world's biggest recruiter of temporary staff said that despite GDP downgrades from the UK and US this week, it was expecting a strong end of the year.
"To date there is no evidence of a slowdown of business in the third quarter of 2010," the company said in an outlook statement accompanying its second-quarter results.
Adecco reported strong growth in the second quarter, pointing in particular to France and North America. The Office for National Statistics said yesterday that employment across Britain had fallen by 49,000 in the three months to June.
