Angry Birds firm raises $42m
Rovio, the app developer behind Angry Birds, has raised $42m as it seeks to expand. The Finnish group yesterday revealed that venture capital firms Accel Partners and Atomico Ventures led the funding round. Niklas Zennstrom, of Atomico and who co-founded Skype, is to join the board.
The move will "transform" Rovio's growth, it said. More than 40 million people play Angry Birds, and Rovio co-founder Mikael Hed said the franchise "will continue to grow".
