A further 235 redundancies will be made at building services firm Rok following the sale of parts of the firm, the administrators said yesterday.

PwC announced a deal in which construction plants at Milton Keynes, Gatwick and Heathrow, and at the group's social housing arm in the South-west and North-west, will be sold to Mansell Construction services, a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty.

The firm's operations in Reading, Crawley, Bristol, Exeter and Leeds were not included in the sale and will be closed down.

Around 380 people will be transferred as part of the deal, but 235 will be laid off, taking the total number of job losses at RoK to almost 2,800. About 200 people will remain at the firm to help wind down operations.
