Barbie, the slim-waisted, perfect-looking doll with a passion for hot pink, is "leaning in" at the workplace with Mattel releasing the "Entrepreneur Barbie".

The new doll is ditching her princess image and comes equipped with a smart-phone, a tablet and a briefcase as she tries to break through the plastic ceiling while looking cute in her signature pink outfit.

According to Mattel, the maker of the Barbie doll, the new range celebrates businesswomen and encourages young girls that “anything is possible”. Unfortunately, we'll have to take their word for it because Barbie doesn't speak, she just smiles. Duh!

"Female entrepreneurs are changing the world, surpassing their goals and showing girls they can be both capable and captivating," the company said in a statement. The campaign also features the hashtag #UNAPOLOGETIC....For having a career? Leaving Ken at home? We're not sure.

In her 55-year history, Barbie has caused controversy over her chiselled facial features to her tiny waist and 'life choices', having lived in a 'dream house' and worked extensively as a fairy princess.
