Boris warns over bank bonuses

Boris Johnson fired a series of warning shots to David Cameron yesterday over bankers' bonuses, income tax and immigration.

The Mayor of London was speaking ahead of the introduction today of a new levy on banks and signs that further taxes could be imposed on financial sector pay. "You need to send out of a powerful signal to the world that we are open for business," he told BBC Radio 4.

He also warned that the 50p top rate of income tax "can't go on forever".He added that major employers were "hacked off" because the new annual cap on non-European work visas made it hard to fill specialist vacancies.
