The City will watch BSkyB's first-quarter results this week to see if the group has defied predictions by producing another period of robust growth. BSkyB saw record new customer additions in its fourth quarter, but analysts believe it is likely to post relatively weak gross additions in Q1.

The results aren't expected to lift shares in the group, under pressure from the competition regulator over its 17.9 per cent stake in ITV.
