Claire’s Accessories accused of copying Tatty Devine designs
High street accessories shop Claire’s Accessories has been accused of copying necklace designs from independent online jewellers Tatty Devine.
On Wednesday, Tatty Devine posted on their blog that they had found five designs in Claire’s Accessories that they claimed had been copied directly from their online store. The designs included a moustache necklace, a fishbone necklace, and a banana necklace.
Tatty Devine designers Rosie Wolfenden and Harriet Vine said: "We're really proud of what we've created with Tatty Devine, and a big part of that is our original designs. We design every piece, and it's all made in Britain by our own skilled team. It's flattering when people like something you've created, but this kind of thing can't be tolerated.
“The reaction from our customers has been amazing. It's gone viral on Facebook and Twitter overnight."
This isn’t the first time that Claire’s has come under fire for allegedly copying independent artists – earlier this year, the company was accused of copying a telephone design necklace from graphic designer Laura Figiel.
A spokesman for the company said: “Claire’s is aware of the blog post on the tattydevine.com blog and is currently investigating these comments.”
It is understood that Tatty Devine are considering legal action.
