Washed-out barbecues during the wettest summer for a century meant pork processor Cranswick's sales came in below City forecasts.

Sales grew 7 per cent between April and June but that slowed to 3.4 per cent in the past three months, which analysts said came almost entirely from price rises. Cranswick shares fell 6 per cent, or 46.5p, to 745p as it said it faced increasing pork prices.

UK pig prices are now at a three-year high and rising and EU prices have started moving sharply in recent weeks.
