Croda lifted by personal care

The specialty chemicals maker Croda International has reported a 6.6 per cent jump in full-year profits, helped by a strong performance at its consumer care business.

Croda, which makes chemicals for use in everything from personal care and home care products to the oil industry, reported a £253m profit for 2012, as sales increased by 2.6 per cent to £586m.

The company raised its final dividend to 32.75p from 30.25p a year earlier. Croda's shares rose by 28p to 2,584p.
