Blacks Leisure blamed dry weather and political uncertainity in May yesterday as it posted a 7.5 per cent fall in like-for-like sales for the 17 weeks to 30 June.

Shares in the outdoor kit retailer fell 6 per cent after it said total sales over the period fell from £76.9m a year ago to £53.9m.

Blacks, which closed 107 stores as part of a rescue deal struck with creditors in November, is looking to open eight stores between now and the end of the financial year.
