February boost for US employment

The United States jobs market forged ahead last month as the recovering health of the world's biggest economy painted a stark contrast to record unemployment in the eurozone.

Non-farm payroll figures showed US employers adding 227,000 jobs in February, the third month in a row that employers have added 200,000 jobs or more. US unemployment held at a three-year low of 8.3 per cent. In the eurozone it hit a record high of 10.7 per cent in January with 16.9 million out of work.
