Coastal English towns hit hard by the recent flooding are to benefit from £17m in government funding for apprenticeships.

The Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander and the Communities Secretary Eric Pickles said areas such as Great Yarmouth, Devon, Weymouth and North Tyneside are set to benefit.

In total, 50 projects are being awarded a share of a £27.7m pot to support 4,000 jobs and 1,000 new apprenticeships. Bidding for the second round of the Coastal Communities Fund has also opened, which will support £64m of projects over three years.
