Fortune favours Jim Beam

Fortune Brands, the company behind Jim Beam bourbon and Titleist golf equipment, reported a doubling in profits in 2010, to $496m (£308m).

The conglomerate, which is looking to spin off its golf and home goods units in order to focus on spirits, said it saw a good performance in Europe and double-digit sales growth in emerging markets. Its revenues rose 5.5 per cent to $1.9bn
