General Motors said it will start auctioning its cars on eBay, as it emerged from bankruptcy promising an end to "business as usual".

The chief executive, Fritz Henderson, promised that GM would find new ways to connect with customers and rebuild trust. GM emerged from Chapter 11 after a government-sponsored rescue deal that gives the US taxpayer a 60 per cent stake in the company. The tie-up with eBay is being trialled in California, GM's weakest US market.
