Dr Tim Stone, the Government's nuclear adviser, has been seconded to the Department of Energy and Climate Change for a further 12 months.

In a boon to the nuclear industry, Dr Stone could continue to develop the Government's policies even if the Tories take power in the forthcoming general election. Dr Stone is chairman of the global infrastructure and projects group at KPMG, but has been advising the Government since the start of 2007.
