Just a fortnight after the launch of the Government's Help to Buy scheme, the housebuilder Persimmon said it is already seeing more interest from aspiring homeowners.
The initiative – which launched on 1 April – saw the number of visitors to Persimmon's website up 30 per cent on the same time a year earlier. "It had a swift effect," the chief executive, Mike Farley, said. "We've seen an increase in both traffic to our site, where more people are now beginning their house search online, and a pick up in reservations.
