The possible mis-selling of insurance products by Homeserve, the emergency repair and insurance group, may cost it up to 240,000 customers in its current financial year, the group warned yesterday.

Homeserve made its customer-loss prediction as it revealed a 2-per-cent rise in pre-tax profits to £18.2m for the six months to 30 September, as sales rose by a quarter to £213.1m. These figures relate to a period before the announcement of the UK problem.
