House prices drop, except in London

House prices fell across England and Wales over the past year, except in London, where average prices rose 1.3 per cent to £346,416, according to data from the Land Registry.

Prices in London prices also saw the strongest rise over the past month, gaining 1.9 per cent. But the the number of house sales completed fell by 10 per cent to 46,870 in the year to May, the figures showed, well below pre-recession levels, which was why prices remained volatile.
