HungryHouse gets £53m takeaway to catch up to Just Eat
Tuesday 14 January 2014
Online food delivery specialist HungryHouse has raised $88 million (£53.7m) from US investors in a bid to catch up to rival Just Eat.
New York-based venture capital firm Insight Venture Partner, an investor in Twitter and Tumblr, has led the funding round in Delivery Hero, HungryHouse’s German parent company.
HungryHouse lets people order from over 10,000 UK takeaways online.
Delivery Hero said a significant proportion of the money would go towards a “huge push” in the UK to catch up to market leader Just Eat.
Revenue at HungryHouse grew over 100 per cent last year and the company hit profitability in October. Britain is Delivery Hero’s second biggest market after Germany.
