The appetite for shopping centres is still growing among property investors despite the predictions for consumer spend on retail to drop.

And now University Superannuation Scheme (USS) is front-runner to buy St John's shopping centre in Perth, Scotland, for around £32m, beating listed firms British Land and Metric Property Investments. Also for sale is the Grange and Pyramids mall in Birkenhead, Merseyside, for more than £80m through Savills.
