Des Swan, the chief executive of the group behind the fashion chain Jigsaw, has quit after less than a year.

Mr Swan joined Kewsaw as chief executive in mid-October 2010. The holding company owns the Jigsaw and Kew fashion chains, as well as Cabbages & Roses and The Shop at Bluebird. It is unclear why Mr Swan has left or whether he has a job to go to. Jigsaw did not return calls yesterday.

Kewsaw made a pre-tax profit of £2.88m between 21 May 2009 and 2 October 2010, according to its accounts. It benefited from crediting "amortisation of negative goodwill" of £9.69m – without which it would have made a loss of £6.81m.

Robinson Webster (Holdings), the former parent of Jigsaw, made a loss of £121,000 for the 52 weeks to 2 October 2010.
