JLP record boosts the chief’s pay

The chairman of the John Lewis Partnership pocketed nearly £1.5m last year after the group behind the eponymous department store and grocer Waitrose delivered record profits of £409.6m.

Charlie Mayfield was JLP’s highest-paid director, with a package 67 times higher than the average amount paid to staff with more than three years’ service. He took home total pay of £1.48m, including an increased salary of £825,000, a pension supplement of £495,000 and a bonus of £140,000.
