John Lewis brings in former Lloyds finance chief
The John Lewis Partnership has scored a coup by hiring the former finance director of Lloyds Banking Group into the same role at the owner of the eponymous department store and the grocer Waitrose.
Helen Weir was most recently the chief executive of Lloyds' retail division, between 2008 and 2011, and will join John Lewis in April, following the decision by its current finance chief, Marisa Cassoni, to step down from June.
Charlie Mayfield, John Lewis's chairman, said: "Helen brings a wealth of both finance and retail experience and expertise." In addition to her four years as finance director at Lloyds, Ms Weir held the same position at Kingfisher, the owner of B&Q.
