KFC has apologised to a Reddit user who posted a picture online of what they claimed was a KFC Ricebox, noting differences between their meal and KFC’s glossy advert.

A spokesperson said KFC was really sorry about the difference. “Clearly this Ricebox was not served as it should have been and we are in contact with the customer to apologise,” the spokesperson said.

The picture posted online is very different from the one KFC advertises. It shows a meal that is low on the main ingredient in the KFC Ricebox: rice.

While it cannot be gleaned whether the picture is of a genuine KFC Ricebox, it is known that the picture was posted on the image sharing website Imgur by a UK customer.

KFC have promoted their new meal with an advert showing a fashion designer creating a new line in their lunch hour, while eating from a Ricebox, with the tagline “pack more into lunch”.

Other customers have used Twitter to voice their disappointment at KFC’s new product, calling it a “tiny box of disappointment” and saying that it hardly contains any rice.

KFC said that it was reminding all of its restaurants of the right way to serve Riceboxes. “We always want our customers to be happy with both the look and taste of their food so this is very disappointing,” a spokesperson said.
