Amanda Staveley, a partner at private equity firm PCP, which is acting for Dubai International Capital, has this weekend brokered a peace deal with Liverpool FC co-owner Tom Hicks to buy a 49 per cent stake in the club.
But Ms Stavelely and DIC's chief executive, Sameer Al Ansari, see this as a holding tactic and will still press for long-term control. In the deal agreed on Friday, DIC is buying the 50 per cent stake owned by George Gillett for around £170m. But in return DIC will sell Mr Hicks 1 per cent, giving him a controlling 51 per cent.Reuse content
