Retailers in central London maintained their stellar sales growth last month, despite the austerity measures unveiled in the Comprehensive Spending Review on 20 October.

Sales in the capital soared by 7.7 per cent last month, boosted by overseas shoppers and the half-term school break, the research firm Springboard says. But outside London sales rose by only 0.8 per cent in October, said the British Retail Consortium.
