The troubled nightclub operator Luminar appointed Ernst & Young as administrators last night. The accountancy firm will in due course make an application to delist the company's shares, which will remain suspended until then.

Nearly 3,000 jobs are at risk at the group, which operates the Oceana and Liquid nightclubs. Potential buyers for some of the sites include the US private equity firm Sun Capita and Steve Thomas, Luminar's former chief executive who is building a burlesque chain, No Saints.
