Matalan founder makes womenswear buy
Thursday 29 March 2012
John Hargreaves, the founder of Matalan, has acquired Fenn Wright Manson, the womenswear retailer, out of administration.
Mr Hargreaves has purchased the brand, the concession business in John Lewis and a small number of its 17 shops but not the concessions in House of Fraser.
He intends to run Fenn Wright Manson as a separate business to Matalan, with his daughter Maxine playing a lead role. Fenn Wright Manson hired Zolfo Cooper as administrator this month.
