The Parliamentary Business and Enterprise Select Committee is set to question officials at Lloyds TSB, Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays and Clydesdale next month on their lending to small and medium sized businesses, which the Government is keen increase to stimulate to help the economy.

It is expected that the hearing will take place on 16 December and will include departmental heads rather than banks chiefs. The committee is chaired by the Conservative MP Peter Luff.
