Clive Milner, the chief operating officer of News International, is leaving after 30 years with the business, the company announced yesterday.

Mr Milner, who is expected to leave at the end of the year, played a key role in the development of major projects, including New International's three new printing facilities at Broxbourne, Knowsley and Eurocentral.

News International is the British newspaper publishing subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp and publishes The Times and The Sun, and The Sunday Times and News Of The World. Mr Murdoch said Mr Milner had "helped create the successful company we see today". "Clive is a professional newspaperman of the highest calibre, who has served both his company and the whole industry in the UK with distinction," he added.
