Orange in talks to join Project Canvas
The mobile operator Orange is in talks to join Project Canvas, the joint venture set up to bring online catch-up television to the living room when it launches next year.
It emerged yesterday that Orange was in the latter stages of negotiations to become the seventh partner in Canvas, just days after Channel Five walked away. Neither side would comment yesterday.
The partners, which also comprise the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, BT, Talk Talk and Arqiva, have been searching for a chairman. Yesterday, it emerged that Kip Meek, formerly a chief policy partner at the media watchdog Ofcom, is the front runner from a shortlist of three. Canvas and Mr Meek declined to comment.
