Whitbread has poached its new finance director from the FTSE 350 electronics group Premier Farnell.

Nicholas Cadbury had spent just one year at Premier Farnell, having held various roles at Dixons, including commercial director of PC World.

He succeeds Christopher Rogers, who has been named managing director of Whitbread's Costa Coffee.

Andy Harrison, Whitbread's chief executive said: "We are delighted with this appointment, having conducted a thorough international search. Nicholas has experience as finance director in two different multinational plcs. He brings a wealth of experience, which will be highly relevant to Whitbread as we continue to realise our ambitious plans for the business."

Mark Whiteling, a previous Premier Farnell finance director, returns to replace Mr Cadbury.
