The cost of a hotel room in London over the Olympics is now more than double what it was last year, according to the industry website TravelClick.
Its research puts the average daily rate across the capital at £193.30 over the two weeks of the Games. That suggests prices in central London are likely to reach record levels as tourists and Olympic officials sweep into town.
TravelClick says although there have been reports of late bargains at some hotels demand is high. Nearly half of London's hotel rooms, 46 per cent, are already booked.
