Sainsbury's buys £1m GMV to boost digital site

Sainsbury's is to boost its digital entertainment operations with the £1m acquisition of Global Media Vault (GMV).

The deal for the online entertainment distribution company will bolster the supermarket's Entertaiment website, launched last year. Sainsbury's was the largest client of GMV, which has a digital database of more than 3 million songs, films and games available to the UK market.

Sainsbury's is attempting to increase its online presence to make up ground on rival Tesco.
