BAA, the airports operator, will take a £24m hit because of disruption during last month's snow storms, with Heathrow suffering the biggest reduction in profit. The company, which is owned by Ferrovial, the Spanish construction firm, said the disruption was expected to reduce Heathrow's profits by around £19m, while Stansted would take a £1m hit.

BAA's other UK airports – Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Southampton – are expected to record a total reduction in profits of about £4m.
